Idyllically situated between the hills of Mount Lofty and the beaches of the Gulf St Vincent, Adelaide is the capital of South Australia and is the ideal place to relax for a few days prior to or following the World Schools Golf Challenge.

Adelaide is an elegant city that offers visitors of all ages a feast of culture, heritage, outdoor pursuits, a wide range of attractions  as well as access to world famous wine regions and food; and is home to festivals celebrating everything from ‘ideas’ to ethnic diversity. The city’s unique cultural life is tied to its Mediterranean climate, easy lifestyle, compact geography and heritage streetscapes.

With its wide flat streets, beautiful Botanic Gardens and riverside location it is also a city made for walking.

For most golf is the reason for coming to South Australia and what a huge variety of golfing options await you – there are courses in the famous wine regions of Barossa, Clare Valley and McLaren Vale; the lunar landscape of Coober Pedy; along the spectacular coastline; the championship courses within 12 kilometres of the city centre; and two public courses in the city’s glorious parklands. There are clubs that rank in Australia’s top 100 and courses to suit every level of play. And there are several courses where you’re likely to share the greens with native wildlife – kangaroos, koalas and myriad colourful birds.

And the greatest thing …its so easy to get around! In a 7 to 10 day holiday you can easily sample the delights of some of the worlds most famous wine regions (the Barossa, McLaren Vale and Clare are all just over an hours drive from Adelaide), cruise at leisure along the Murray River, shop til you drop in Rundle Mall, take in a close encounter with the wildlife of Kangaroo Island and even experience the rugged beauty of the Flinders Ranges.
